Ben and Jack approached us with a comprehensive set of architectural plans for their new home at Aureus, the masterplanned beachfront community at Skennars Head between Lennox Head and Ballina, on the same development as another home at Aureus we have completed. The design had been through several iterations to bring it into line with budget while keeping the integrity of what they were trying to build. Careful planning got us to a point where we were confident the project could be delivered without losing what mattered.
The design is a two storey pavilion home. Separate but interconnecting living zones, linked by an external breezeway, with laser cut privacy screening, custom gates and a centrally positioned swimming pool acting as the visual anchor of the internal courtyard.
The priorities were openness and natural flow. Light filled spaces with a strong connection between the inside of the home and the outdoor environment around it.
A design like this needs a collaborative approach. Clean architectural lines, multiple structural and architectural elements running together, and the kind of finishes that only work if the way we coordinate a project is right.
We worked closely with Scott Carpenter and the Create Architecture team alongside Westera & Partners on the structural side. Early planning and ongoing communication kept the project aligned with design intent across the breezeway connection, the screening, the pool integration and the high end finishes throughout.
Sequencing was the other piece. Plenty of architectural detail in this one, and the order things go in matters as much as how they are done.
A refined architectural home that delivered on the original design vision with the workmanship to match.

From the first conversation, it was clear that Matt was the builder for us. He loved our design and gave excellent advice about practical changes we could make without compromise to maximise our budget. Throughout our build, Matt demonstrated a perfect blend of professionalism whilst at the same time being relaxed and friendly but meticulous about getting everything right. Many people commented to us they never had seen a build site so tidy. Matt’s trades we spoke with have a genuine respect for him and told us how much they enjoy working with him. He clearly handpicks them too because the workmanship in all aspects was to the highest standard. We adore our home but if we ever needed to build another, the choice is clear: MGM FTW.
